Baby T and the Photo Project

I always wanted to do something like this for one of our babies...

Pregnancy is such a wild ride... it's full of excitement from the moment that line starts to darken on the pregnancy test to the first time I lay my hands on the baby during birth. It is emotional, beautiful and addictive to be quite honest!

Every pregnancy and new baby is different -- I can personally attest to that but goodness, with how wonderful T's pregnancy and birth went and how truly easy and sweet of a newborn he is... it makes me want lots of babies! I have treasured all our children as newborns but this sweet pea especially so -- he has been a gift to us from the very beginning. I feel like I've won the lottery every time I hold him.

Love you baby boy,

Mama

Nursery Reveal: Baby T's Dreamy White Nursery

This is baby #3 for us and most likely our last so we decided to savor our last little bundle and make his nursery extra special. I knew I wanted a relaxing almost vintage white nursery with small touches of color (pink or blue) depending on what we were having. It turned out exactly as I hoped!

A dreamy almost vintage white nursery was my hope for our third baby. I knew I wanted to use special keepsake items from both my childhood and my husband’s no matter the sex of the baby. A grey and white color combination was the perfect base in creating the calm atmosphere I craved. This being our third child I wanted a serene place for the two of us to connect and enjoy -- away from the hustle and bustle of a house full of giggles and two-year old temper tantrums. I wanted to keep the nursery simple yet full of special personal details.

The bedding was just an idea I had in my head and my friend Debbie made it happen. Her super sewing skills are pretty incredible. I wanted white, ruffles, storybook crib skirt and subtle softness to define the look and feel of the nursery. I sure do feel at peace in this special space. The touches of color came after we decided to find out the sex of baby 3. Debbie Park owns Cottage and Cabin and sells handmade nursery linens. She not only does exquisite work but is the sweetest lady around.

It is my new favorite place in the whole house and I feel super loved that Chris let me go bananas on a project all by myself. He moved and painted furniture without complaint and let me nest til my heart was content. A true gift for a girl's last hoorah.

Enjoy,

Amanda

Self-Taken: Baby in the Belly Session -- Me & Baby 3

Obviously pictures hold a special place in my heart.

The hard thing about enjoying photography and take pictures for friends and family is that I see how much joy it brings to the people I care about. I see how much they love their photos and it makes me want special photos of my little family too. This is especially true during times of pregnancy and new babies. Such short and special seasons of life. I cherish these times and I'm so so thankful we were able to pay for our own photography session when our second baby was born. I've gone back and forth on whether we should pay for Maternity and Newborn photos but ultimately at around $600-$700 per session for about 30 digital images I just can't do it this time.

So what's a girl to do?

Make friends with a tripod and anyone that is willing to push a button!

I have taken lots most of my family's own photos and I always go into each  "session" knowing that the pictures will not be perfect or as creative or "artistic" as if I were to pay a photographer. Being the "photographer" as well the subject isn't the easiest task so ultimately I've learned to take what I get and be happy with it all.

Here are some self-take and assisted sessions we've tackled before:

Big Seidl Family Photo Session

Chris knew how badly I wanted some maternity photos so we all suited up and gave it a shot!

I'm so pleased some turned out, such a grace.

Family Session: The Smiths

I have this weird infatuation with Kirby and I must say I have always loved Dane, of course Jeremy is great too, he's no dud.

I remember Kirby bringing Dane over when he was itty bitty and all sorts of gassy baby. We shared thoughts, remedies, mama gassy baby woes. I must say this birthday boy is a looker and I literally stopped and kissed on him I think three, maybe four times and lavished my own mama love on him. You will see why... the little stinker is a serious doll, super silly and the toothy grin! I can't help it, I have to chew and kiss on him when he is near.

All this to say, Kirby, I felt so privileged you asked me to take some photos for you. I can't help but be a little partial but they turned out so wonderfully. I love Dane. love him. You look incredible pregnant and thinking about your new baby has actually gotten me more excited for our own as strangely as that sounds.

I know two little people this close in age will be challenging but honestly anytime you add another baby it's a challenge. You two have so much adoration and care for Dane, the pictures show it so obviously, that it will all come naturally and work out perfect.

Enjoy this sweet time and these,

Amanda

See you soon Smith baby #2 :)
